The Cost-Neutral reshoring challenge

A global leader in industrial motion systems was looking to modernize their supply chain. They wanted shorter lead times. They wanted to cut the carbon emissions tied to trans-oceanic shipping. But crucially, the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) had to remain completely flat. They needed European manufacturing at an Asian price point. Furthermore, they wanted to ditch traditional wet paint for sustainable powder coating to improve durability—without changing a single mechanical tolerance or altering the established "look and feel" of their brand.

 

Automating the cost away

To hit a price point that aggressively in a high-wage European market, you have to work entirely differently. We knew standard, labor-intensive finishing methods wouldn't cut it.
Instead, we engineered the cost right out of the process. We invested heavily in custom automatic tooling and high-efficiency robotic production cells. By fully automating the trimming and machining phases, we drastically reduced the "per-part" labor cost. This smart application of automation allowed our European lines to compete directly with Asian pricing, proving that reshoring does not have to come with a financial penalty.

 

Achiving the 1,000-Hour Benchmark

The technical cornerstone of this project was the extreme durability requirement. The original components utilized standard alloys that relied heavily on wet paint for protection. Rubitech engineers proposed a shift toa corrosion resistant alloy. When combined with our advanced, highly controlled powder coating process, this created a synergistic effect that significantly boosted the component's lifespan in harsh industrial environments.

Through precise control of the pre-treatment and powder application, Rubitech guaranteed a finish that comfortably exceeds the grueling 1,000-hour salt spray resistance benchmark. Crucially, through intense collaboration with the client's design teams, we matched the exact texture and "feel" of the previous wet-painted parts, ensuring the brand's visual identity remained seamlessly intact.

In the end, the client didn't just get a shorter, safer supply chain. They got a vastly superior, tougher product without spending an extra dime.
