The Challenge of 25-Part Complexity
Designing for the high-end home mobility market presents a unique set of engineering and logistical demands. When a world-leading manufacturer of premium chairlifts approached us, they brought a highly complex requirement: the primary seat assembly of their flagship product relied on 25 unique aluminium die-cast components. These were not standard industrial brackets; they were structural, safety-critical parts that also had to look elegant and unassuming in a residential setting.
The client faced a twofold challenge. First, they needed to manage the production of these 25 distinct, highly precise parts at scale. Second, they needed a supply chain that could deliver this complexity with absolute reliability. They wanted the cost-efficiency of global production, but required a partner capable of taking complete ownership of the design, finishing, and delivery process without sacrificing European quality standards.
Engineering the Perfect Casting
The collaboration began not on the factory floor, but at the drawing board in our Netherlands facility working closely together with our Malaysian colleague’s. Our engineering team engaged in an intensive Design for Manufacturing (DfM) process alongside the client's own R&D department.
When an assembly relies on 25 interacting parts, even microscopic inefficiencies or tolerance deviations multiply quickly. We worked to optimize wall thicknesses, refine rib structures, and adjust geometries to ensure each individual piece was the perfect casting part for their specific design language. This upfront engineering significantly reduced material waste and ensured total structural integrity during the high-pressure die casting (HPDC) process.
Global Production, European peace of mind
Once the blueprints were perfected, production shifted to our strategic manufacturing network in Malaysia. Operating within this region allows us to offer highly competitive pricing, but we strictly enforce European quality baselines. The production facilities operate under stringent ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 certifications—an automotive-grade standard that translates to exceptional reliability for mobility and furniture applications. Here, the components are cast and subsequently subjected to high-precision CNC machining to achieve the exact tolerances required.
A critical aspect of this project was the surface preparation. Visual consistency is paramount in the premium consumer market, and color deviation across different paint batches is unacceptable. To maintain total control over the aesthetic, the customer preferred to apply the final powder coating in their own European facility. To make this seamless, our team in Malaysia prepares the raw aluminium surfaces to a flawless standard, ready for immediate coating upon arrival. Before a single part leaves Asia, it passes through our dedicated Malaysian quality control department, ensuring that only pristine components make the journey
Insulating the assembly line
Manufacturing the parts is only half the equation; the other half is getting them to the customer's assembly line exactly when they are needed. Rubitech manages the entire sea freight process, absorbing the complexities and administrative burden of international shipping.
When the parts arrive in the Netherlands, they go straight into our secure warehousing. To completely insulate the client from the unpredictability of global supply chains—such as port delays or shipping shortages—we maintain a dedicated safety stock locally. This buffer allows us to operate on a highly precise delivery schedule. We supply the customer's production facility twice a week, precisely aligned with their internal assembly rhythm.
